The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

In this sentence, what do the quotations mean about Hucks attitude?

"It most froze me hear suck talk. He wouldn't ever dared to talk such talk in his life before. Just see what a difference it made in him the minute he judged he was about free... I was sorry to hear Jim say that, it was such a lowering of him."

He was shocked that his humble, subservient friend could speak like a free man. Jim could taste freedom, and he no longer felt the shackles on his tongue or the fear of being beaten for the things he said........... needless to say, Huck didn't like what he's heard and thought it brought Jim down.
