Huckleberry Finn

Jim's evolution in the novel is not that he changes as much as Huck's perception of him changes.  Huck learns what a good human being Jim is and he sees Jim in a way not typical of the times in which the story takes place.  Jim also shows us that he knows how to "play the game" when he has to act as a slave.
