Huck refernce to Jim's being "white inside" is a reference to his humanity. Throughout the novel, Jim shows nothing but kindness to everyone around him. He sticks with Huck through thick and thin, puts his own life at risk to help save Tom's, and wants nothing more than return to his family to be a husband and father.
