The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

Compare Pap and Jim as a father figure to Huck. How has their treatment affected Huck's view of family? (Is Jim's mistreatment of this deaf daughter comparable to Pap's abuse of Huck?)

Jim is the epitome of a great father; Huck looks up to him. Pap is a running memory of abuse...... the total opposite.

Jim's treatment of his deaf daughter was revealed with sorriw and remorse; he didn't know she was deaf, and he will never forgive himself for his treatment of her. This is not at all comparable with Pap's treatment of Huck, which came from a need to make Huck submit and was often caused by drunkeness.
