[Chapter 40] Explain the verbal irony in Huck's statement: "We was all glad as we could be, but Tom was the gladdest of all because he had a bullet in the calf of his leg."

I think the fact that Tom loved adventure so much, the bullet was a memento. At the same time it certainly isn't a pleasant thing to have.

he was hurt but he did not care for it. he thought it was cool that he got shot and that is the ironic part that he does not feel anything but excitment that he got shot, when you get shot you usually feel pain but not tom.
