Why do you think that Junior's sister lost her way after high school?

I think that Junior's sister, Mary runs away, is just stuck after high-school. Like many people on the reserve, Mary finds that there is just nowhere to go. Everything she knows is on the reserve. There is no other schools or opportunities. Money is non-existent so Mary just confines herself to the basement.
