What did junior wish his parents had become? Why didn’t it happen?

Junior wishes his parents had followed their passions. He thinks that his mother could have been a college instructor and his father could have been a musician. Unfortunately, dreams don't come true on the Rez. People are locked in a cycle of poverty and alcoholism.
