The 5th Wave Study Guide

The 5th Wave is the first book of a science-fiction/fantasy trilogy by Rick Yancey and was published in 2013 by Penguin Group. The story is written from a first-person (diary) perspective from the viewpoint of Cassie Sullivan, the protagonist of the novel.

The book as been given good reviews and has been compared favorably to other famous novels of the same genre. It was named as one of the best young adult books of 2013 by The New York Times and received good reviews from Publishers Weekly. It was also a finalist for the Goodreads Best Young Adult Fantasy or Science Fiction novel in 2013. Critics praised the book for bridging the gap between young adult fiction and adult fiction.

A film adaption was released by Sony Pictures in 2016. It was directed by J. Blakeson, produced by Graham King and Tobey Maguire, and starred Chloe Grace Moretz. Unfortunately the film adaptation was not well received.
