Chapter 28 - Sources of Magnetic Field - Problems - Discussion Questions - Page 947: Q28.10

Answer

See explanation.

Work Step by Step

Ampere’s Law is the preferred way to find the magnetic fields in situations of high symmetry. It is very easy to use, but only applies in situations containing sufficient symmetry. The Law of Biot and Savart can find the magnetic field in any situation, not just when the currents are symmetrically arranged. However, the calculations can quickly become very nasty.
