We know that the water in the Great Salt Lake has a greater density than normal water, or the normal density of a human body. This is due to the large amount of salt deposits that frequently occur in desert lake bodies (a similar effect is seen in the Dead Sea). Since the human body has a smaller density than the high salinity water, it can easily float without effort.
