Chapter 9 - Think and Solve - Page 178: 43

Answer

Calculate g by dividing the gravitational force on an object by the object's mass. $$g= G \frac{M_{Earth}}{d^{2}} = (6.67 \times 10^{-11} \frac {N \cdot m^{2}}{kg^{2}}) \frac{(6.0 \times 10^{24} kg)}{((6380 + 200) \times 10^{3} m))^{2}}$$ $$g = 9.24 \frac{m}{s^{2}} $$ $$100\% \times \frac{9.24}{9.8} = 94\%$$
