A 100% efficient automobile engine would not feel warm, heat the air, make any noise, or vibrate. Those non-useful forms of energy would not be produced from the energy in the fuel, because (supposedly) all of that input energy would be transformed into mechanical work. Alas, no engine can be 100% efficient, even in principle.
