a. Average speed is distance divided by time, and the distances are equal. The ball on track B finishes first, so it has the higher average speed. b. The ball is moving equally fast at the ends of tracks A and B because the ball has dropped an equal distance from the starting point. In other words, the speed gained on the additional downramp for B is lost when it climbs the final upramp.
