Answer
A magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) generator shoots a plasma of charged ions and electrons through a magnetic field. A conventional generator pulls charge through a magnetic field by means of a rotating armature.
In a MHD generator, electrodes carry the current to the load circuit, whereas a conventional generator uses brushes with conducting bristles.
Finally, a MHD generator has no moving parts.
