Chapter 12 - Think and Explain - Page 242-243: 43

Answer

Micrographs and x-ray diffraction patterns provide evidence for the microscopic crystal nature of certain materials. Evidence on a larger scale includes the way that crystals cleave along planes, the macroscopic shape of blocks of materials (e.g., quartz), and the surface of materials, such as weathered galvanized iron. This is discussed on pages 227-228.
