The horizontal component of velocity remains constant, 10 m/s. The initial vertical velocity component was initially zero, and after one second, the vertical component is 10 m/s directed downward. Use the Pythagorean theorem to find the overall speed. $$(10 \frac{m}{s})^{2}+(10 \frac{m}{s})^{2} =v^{2}$$ $$v=14.1 \frac{m}{s}$$ The ball is moving at an angle of 45° below the horizontal.
