Chapter 7 - Chemical Reactions - Exercises - Questions - Page 239: 20

Answer

A redox reaction is a reduction-oxidation reaction which is a special type of chemical reaction.

Work Step by Step

A redox reaction is a reaction where there is a transfer of electrons between the species. The reaction is comprised of two parts. Oxidation and reduction. Oxidation is the loss of electrons and reduction is the gain of electrons. Redox reactions are written via two half reactions and combining the half reactions produced by the net overall reaction.
