The pressure and volume of a gas are inversely proportional. Therefore, as you increase the pressure on a gas, the volume decreases. This means that as the pressure on a gas increases, the gas has less space to spread out and the particles are closer together. As the volume of a gas decreases, the particles are naturally forced closer together. Therefore, they will collide more often and the rate of the reaction will increase.
