Atoms are electrically neutral so the number of protons and electrons are equal. The mass number is the sum of the number of the protons and neutrons, so given any two we can calculate the other. The chemical symbol is found by noting the number of protons, and then finding the appropriate element. Add the mass number to the symbol to complete it.
