Chapter 5 - DNA and Chromosomes - Questions - Page 195: Question 5-14

Answer

B is transcribing more of its genes as it has more of decondensed chromatin compared to A.

Work Step by Step

In the micrograph A, it can be seen that there is dark regions. These dark regions are condensed chromatin and is densely stained. These stained regions are heterochromatin and transcriptionally inactive. Whereas in B, the light regions are light chromatin, which is decondensed and hence transcriptionally active.
