Chapter 2 - Chemical Components of Cells - Questions - Page 46: Question 2-3

Answer

This is correct.

Work Step by Step

An ionic and covalent bond work on the same basis that electrons are equally shared between two atoms interacting with each other. This interaction forms a nonpolar covalent bond. If two atoms interact but share an unequal amount of electrons the covalent bond is polar. In the event that two atoms share a bond but one loses all its electrons to the other, the bond becomes ionic. Generally, there is always a bond for an intermediate state.
