Answer

Covalent bond

Work Step by Step

In a covalent bond, two atoms share a pair of electrons. When two nonmetals bond, they do so through a covalent bond. Although hydrogen is on the left side of the periodic table, it is considered a nonmetal. Therefore, when a carbon atom bonds with four hydrogen atoms, it does so through the use of four covalent bonds.
