Answer
16b. The cerebrum is divided into two cerebral hemispheres--the left and right cerebral hemispheres. It has been shown that the left hemispheres is specialized to control activities that deal with logic, math, or language; the right hemisphere is more concerned with controlling activities that utilize visual spatial and creative skills, intuition , memory and musical ability. This is partial lateralization, but not complete right or left dominance . The fact is that the hemispheres are connected by fiber tracts. They communicate and cooperate. In fact we use both hemisphere for every mental task. The extent of the involvement of either hemisphere varies with the nature of the task,as indicated. However, neither hemisphere is completely dominant in the execution of mental and emotional activities.
Work Step by Step
The division of the cerebrum into hemispheres has resulted in specialization in control of mental and emotional activities. It has also resulted in the phenomenon called handedness.:some people are left-handed and some people are right-handed. This must not be confused with complete dominance of either hemisphere in the control and integration of certain kinds of activities. The hemispheres are connected by fiber tracts and they communicate and cooperate in almost all mental activities. The so called right-brain or left-brain characterization of people does not mean one hemisphere of the brain is completely dominant over the other. The picture is much more mixed and nuanced. Both hemispheres cooperate in all mental activities
