Answer

Phagocytosis is basically a cell eating a solid particle. The cell takes in a foreign particle for destruction. Pinocytosis is basically a cell drinking a liquid droplet. The cell takes in a liquid molecule for use.

Work Step by Step

Phagocytosis is when a cell engulfs a particle such as bacteria, dust, or debris. The cell generally entraps the particle with its pseudopods and puts it into a vesicle. The cell brings in this vesicle which then merges with a lysosome This process destroys the invading particle and keeps the tissue free of debris and microbes. Pinocytosis is when a cell takes in a liquid droplet by caving in its plasma membrane. This forms a pinocytotic vesicle in the cytoplasm where the cell is able to access and use it.
