Answer

a. neutrophils

Work Step by Step

The respiratory burst is a reaction in which a neutrophil absorbs oxygen to produce superoxide anions, hydrogen peroxide, and hypochlorite. These chemicals are highly toxic to other cells and form a killing zone around the neutrophil. Basophils, mast cells, NK cells, and cytotoxic T cells are not capable of this reaction. Basophils and mast cells secrete leukotrienes, histamine, and heparin. NK cells releases perforins which create a hole in the cell membrane of an enemy cell. Cytotoxic T cells delivers a lethal hit of toxic chemicals inside an enemy cell.
