The accessory nerve is the only nerve listed that doesn’t begin or end in the orbit. The accessory nerve controls swallowing and head, neck, and shoulder movements. Its origin is the spinal cord C1 to C6 and it terminates in the palate, pharynx, trapezius and sternocleidomastoid muscles.
