Answer
Dystrophin is a minor protein found in muscle fibers. It is located in a position between the sarcolemma and the outermost myofilaments of a muscle cell.
Work Step by Step
Function of dystrophin:
Dystrophin links actin filaments to a protein under the sarcolemma, then via other molecules to the endomysium that wraps myofibers. When actin filaments move they pull on dystrophin ; this pull is transferred to tendons through extracellular connective tissue.
Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy are X-linked muscle disorder in which dystrophin is defective. This results in weakness, muscle degeneration, and comparatively early death
