The following are the main muscles ( two joint muscles) that cross both the hip joint and the knee join and produce actions at both. Sartorious: Flexes hip and knee. It also abducts and laterally rotates the thigh. Tensor fasciae latae: medially rotates and abducts thigh; flexes and extends knee; laterally rotates and stabilizes hip joint. Gluteus maximus: Extends hip at thigh; it also stabilizes and flexes tibia.
