The V shaped tendons on either side of the suprasternal notch belong to the sternocleidomastoid muscle. There is a sternocleidomastoid muscle on each side of the neck an head. Each muscle originates in the sternum and attaches to the clavicle. It runs diagonally up the side of the neck to insert in the mastoid process of the temporal bone.
