Chapter 1 - Section A.2 - Figure A.4 - The Four Quadrants and Nine Regions of the Abdomen - Page 31: 1

Answer

pain of appendicitis is felt in right lower quadrant.

Work Step by Step

Here we have to know this fact also that in the initial stages pain is felt in umbilical region(this is referred pain).Because both appendix and umbilicus are innervated by T10 spinal segment. But with increasing inflammation pain gets localized in right iliac fossa region.(right lower quadrant). So in general if asked about quadrant where pain of appendicitis is felt then answer will be lower right quadrant. More specifically McBurney's point is the point of maximum tenderness in appendicitis. This point is located at the junction of lateral one-third and medial two third of line joining right anterior superior iliac spine and umbilicus.
