Function of a hypothesis. The function of a hypothesis is to suggest a method for answering a question. It facilitates the formulation of a testable deduction as an " if-------then-----" prediction. Falsifiability means capable of being shown to be false or wrong . Testability and falsifiability are not exactly synonymous. A hypothesis is testable if it is possible to show it is false or wrong by empirical production of contrary information.
