Chapter 1 - Section 1.3 - Definition I: Trigonometric Functions - 1.3 Problem Set - Page 31: 2

Answer

all, two

Work Step by Step

In quadrant I all the six trigonometric functions are positive Reason- x, y, and r are all positive. In quadrant II, only $\sin\theta$ and $\csc\theta$ are positive. Reason- y and r are positive and x is negative. In quadrant III, only $\tan\theta$ and $\\cot\theta$ are positive. Reason- x and y both are negative. In quadrant IV, only $\cos\theta$ and $\sec\theta$ are positive. Reason- y is negative and x and r are positive. Thus In first quadrant all the six trigonometric functions are positive. In each of the other three quadrants, only two of the six functions are positive.
