Chapter P - Section P.5 - Factoring Polynomials - Exercise Set - Page 70: 125

Answer

For a trinomial of the form $ax^{2}+bx+c,$ $3x^{2}+10x+8$= we search for factors of $ac=24$ whose sum is $b=10$ and we find $+6$ and $+4$, so we rewrite the $bx $ term and factor in pairs $=3x^{2}+6x+4x+8$ $=3x(x+2)+4(x+2)$ $=(x+2)(3x+4)$
