Chapter 4 - Number Representation and Calculation - 4.3 Computation in Positional Systems - Exercise Set 4.3 - Page 235: 51

Answer

01100, 00110, 00100 and 11011

Work Step by Step

The first not function for the 2 blanks, reverses the digits of the binary code, that is, 0 in place of 1 and 1 in place of zero. So for the first and second blanks, the binary codes are 01100 and 00110 respectively. Now, to pass this code through an AND gate, the result will be 1, only if both the binary codes have 1 as their input, otherwise 0. So, the output through the AND gate will be 00100. For the last blank space, the code will be reversed as it has to pass through a NOT gate, therefore, the final output is 11011. All the four blanks are given as 01100, 00110, 00100 and 11011 respectively.
