This is a function, because if I work for x hours, there is no confusion about the amount I should be paid. Only one amount (one output) is possible for a certain number of hours (an input) . $b.$ If you know the amount on my pay check, determine the company I work for. This is not a function because for one input (amount), there may be many companies (outputs) that would pay me the same amount.
