Chapter 7 - Functions and Graphs - 7.2 Domain and Range - 7.2 Exercise Set - Page 458: 15

Answer

Domain={-5,-3,-1,0,2,4} Range={-1,1}

Work Step by Step

For problem 15 a graph is given to us. The following points are on the graph. (-5,-1) (-3,-1) (-1,-1) (0,1) (2,1) (4,1) The domain is all your x values in an ordered pair. The range is all your y values in an ordered pair. Since these are points and not a continuous line, we must use set builder notation to list the domain and range. We do not repeat numbers that are already listed for range or domain.This means we only have to list -1 and 1 once for our range. $Domain$= {-5,-3,-1,0,2,4} $Range$ = {-1,1}
