I hope to see my pilot face to face. Explain the line.

I believe this question was already asked and answered. The speaker hopes to see his pilot (God) face to face. This is a poem about belief in God and His promise of an afterlife. The speaker hopes to see God, who has been the pilot or guide of his life, after his death.... when he enters Heaven.
