What is a character called who speakers for the author by correcting the mistaken ideas of others?
I believe the term you're looking for is "raisonneur." A raisonneur is "a character in a play, novel, or the like who voices the central theme, philosophy, or point of view of the work." In Tartuffe, the raisonneur is presumably Cleante, who always supports keeping to the "reasonable way."
