why does the zombie reappear in the entry for friday august 18

Paul has moved to a new town in Florida. After he goes to sleep, Paul is wakened by the sounds of his brother running down the hallway and a car pulling away from the house. Paul can't fall back asleep and he imagines a Zombie wandering Interstate 10.
