When Paul recieves a second chance to play soccer, he refers to it as “the miracle”. He also says that “The heavens had opened up for me.” Paul's new school isn't wealthy, elite, or sought out, but for him it offers acceptance. The ability to play soccer and belong are the things Paul wants most in life. Thus, the sinkhole, and his subsequent relocation were really blessings in disguise.
