I feel like I would've started by appreciating Charles on the courage and bravery and his willingness to save an innocent man from an unpleasant death. I would've proceeded to tell him about the dangers coming his way by going to France at the time of unmanaged chaos and a time where justice wasn't present. But I would've told him to return to France to save Gabelle if Darnay wanted to obey the last look in his dear mother's eyes which implored him to have mercy and to redress.
