In the village, the crops are dying and the people are starving. The villagers have no money to buy food because they send what they have to the Marquis. A woman approaches the Marquis on the road looking for help (financial) for a tombstone for her dead husband...... she is ignored. For the people in the Marquis' home village, the coditions couldn't be worse.
