Toward the beginning of the chapter, Dr. Manette comes out of a room where he and Charles Darnay have been talking. Dr. Manette is described as “deadly pale.” Based on our previous reading, what can we infer that they were discussing?

I think they were discussing Dr. Manette's horrible experience in prison. Really, Dr. Manette is a shell of a man that he once was.
