Dr. Manette thinks Mr. Lorry is talking about another man when they speak of his malady. This seems to comfort Manette. Manette thinks this "friend" should keep his tools if they helped get him through the ordeal in prison. When Dr. Manette leaves Then they burn everything. to join Lucie and Charles, Mr. Lorry and Miss Pross remove the shoemaker's tools and destroy the bench.
