How does the analogy on page 51 between students at Mica High School and mud frogs in the Sonoran Desert show how the students are changing?

The analogy explain that way in which mud frogs lie and wait for the rain to come. When the rain arrives...... the frogs come to life. The students are like the mud frogs; Stargirl is like the rain. Whe she arrives, the other students finally come to life and find their own identities.
