wat does spring awakening mean?

I know a lot about the play, the characters and their stories but what does the title mean?

The book starts in the spring, in which most members of the cast undergo an "awakening" (or the start of puberty and sexual feelings)

Actually the spring is often associated with the period of the sexual instincts. Humans are in the sexual mood during the spring. For these children in the play the spring (the sexual instincts) are at their beginnings. Which means the awaking of the sexual instincts
