How do paragraphs 64-78 contribute to the meaning of the story?

In the paragraph's specified above, the author illustrates the lengths the Queen is will to go to in order to rid herself of Snow White as a rival. The Queen tried to use the poisonous comb to no avail, which made the Queen even angrier, which is evident in her proclamation that she will kill Snow White "even if it costs her (me) her life."
