The protagonist is Alex, who is a young man bullied by senior students. However, Alex is depicted as a strong character who defies all the odds to achieve his goals. The main antagonist in the book is Jockey because he is the primary character who subjects Alex to suffering.

Alex is seen as an outcast in society and the school where he studies. In school, Alex is bullied by the senior students, and he suffers the most.

The emergence of the character Marta is the climax in the book because he proves that not all people are violent and inhumane. Marta does everything to protect Alex from bullying.

The introduction of the character, Marta, foreshadows Alex’s freedom and success in future.

The understatement is evident when the author introduces Marta and depicts her as a good person. Marta joins her senior student's behavior and subject minors to misery in the long run, deconstructing her earlier behavior.

The intensity of people in society is idolized by Jockey's behavior, which alludes to society's misconception that thinks that it is more powerful than the gods.

Alex gained his courage to retaliate against the humiliation and bullying from the senor students from the smell of the wings. Hearing imagery is also depicted when the author writes that Alex's tormentors could not hear him.

The main paradox manifests itself in the friendship between Alex and Jockey. Jockey is a bully and manipulator who do not deserve the friendship of a cool person like Alex.
