Even though Sir. Gawain neglected to tell the Green Knight about his iron girdle, the Knight felt this to be a minor indiscretion. Gawain had held his end of the deal, even planting the kiss he received (from the Knight's wife) on the Green Knight. The Green Knight didn't fault Gawain for trying to preserve his life at the last minute with his slight omission.
