Sir Gawain and the Green Knight

What did the Green Knight leave at home that he said he would have brought if he meant to do battle?

We are reading Sir Gawain and the Green Knight and we're doing a worksheet. I'm having trouble keeping up with the story. What does the Green Knight leave at home? Is it his helmet and breastplate? Because it mentions something about that.

I believe it was his knife.

"..... to await his doom without resistance, with no brand or knife to defend him."
